Sino-Eu Personalised Medicine Trip

I joined the Sino-Eu PerMed project’s Expert Task Force for ELSI at the beginning of this year. Following two online meetings, together with colleagues in Denmark, Italy, Germany, France and the UK, we were able to meet in person this April in China and visited a few research institutions and pharmaceutical companies.

It was an intense week during which we visited four cities and toured Peking University, BeiGen, Novo Nordisk, the Guangzhou Institutes for Biomedicine and Health, Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Hospital, Hong Kong University Shenzhen Hospital, and BGI.

I learned a lot from all the visits, just submitted my reflection to the organiser but I probably will need another week to process all the conversations.

By the way, note the last photo in the lower right corner: ‘CNS (Cell, Nature, Science) Accepted’ – Ha! We Zhangs are aspirational, aren’t we? (I later learned that it’s a common motto among young science students in China).
